WATERMELON SLIM
Bill "Watermelon Slim" Holmans. What can you say about this man? Bonnie Raitt probably said it best when at a 2009 concert she called Slim a "living blues legend". Born in Boston, Slim was raised in North Carolina listening to the housekeeper sing John Lee Hooker songs.
Watermelon Slim & The Workers have garnered 17 Blues Music Award nominations including a record-tying six in both 2007 & 2008 and Slim is the only blues artist in history with twelve in two consecutive years. We talked with Slim and he was on fire, talking about his life, the "journalistic inaccuracies" that accompany him in his life and his continuing dissatisfaction with our government. JUKE JOINT FESTIVAL 2014 - Segment Begins At The 46:00 Mark
Sean "Bad" Apple and Bluesberry Cafe Owner, Arthur Crivaro joined me to talk about the 2014 Clarksdale Juke Joint Festival which is on April 10, 11 and 12. We also heard two songs from Sean's band The All Night Long Blues Band.

Harpdog Brown originally Sat On The Couch back on November 12, 2012 and he returned tonight to share his new album What it Is. Dog and I had a couple of technical glitches, but they have been edited out of the show. Dog talked about recording the album and his upcoming tour in Canada. Of course we shared songs from the album.

Terry Quiett has released ten albums since 1999 proving his staying power, while allowing him to develop his exceptional talents as a singer, songwriter and virtuoso instrumentalist in preparation for “overnight success” he has earned and deserves. Terry and I talked about his life and how his career developed from playing electric guitar to acoustic and then back and why it occurred and how it had to occur for him to be where he is today. We chatted about his life and music.
JUSTIN JOHNSON - Segment Begins At The 51:43 Mark
Justin Johnson called in from Australia where he is on a long tour. Justin has been hailed by Guitar World as a must see act and dubbed “The Wizard” for his mastery of stringed instruments. He has earned many accolades including a 1st place win in the Slidestock International Slide Guitar Competition. We talked about the new album Smoke & Mirrors recorded at Sun Studios and in the middle of the delta at the "Authentic Crossroads" and at Hopson Plantation in Clarksdale using over 20 different instruments. Justin and I talked about his journey and the cool things he is doing during this world tour to spotlight the many builders around the globe.

Franc Robert originally sat on the Couch back in September of 2012. He has a new album entitled Ride The Iron Road and he returns to share it with us and talk about the recording, a solo effort after his last two band albums.

Kim Simmonds is the force behind Savoy Brown. Next year marks his 50th in the music industry. Savoy Brown has a new album Going To The Delta. Kim and I took a journey from the beginning of the band back in 1965 until today and talked about how Savoy Brown has been looked at over the years, Kim's thoughts on the music and the changes since the beginning and so much more.

KENNY WAYNE
Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne began performing early on in his life. His career in the blues was detoured early on, but after 20 years of performing Jazz and some Rock, the Blues found Kenny once again and as he says "I have not looked back" I sat with Kenny and we talked about his life and career and his incredible look-forward attitude while we listened to tracks from his latest release, Rollin With The Blues Boss. OH, and listen in to hear a great story about when Kenny was playing bass guitar at a recording session!
DAUNIELLE - Segment Begins At The 58:22 Mark
Her name is Daunielle and she is a Memphis-based vocalist whose family has been part of the Memphis music scene for years. What a wonderful interview with this talented woman. We spoke about her starting out in the studio on her daddy's hip while he worked as an engineer to her supporting artists like Solomon Burke and Huey Lewis & the News, who she has toured with for the last four years. Now, her self-titled debut album was produced by Jim Gaines and contains some incredible music. We listened to some tunes while Daunielle shared her life.

MALAYA BLUE
Malaya Blue has been a singer-songwriter for most of her life, singing gospel music in the church choir and since then she’s gone from strength to strength. In 2011, she guested on blues-rock guitarist Mick Simpson’s album, Cruel World, singing lead vocals on the track, "Find Another You". Her new album is Bourbon Street, a soulful mix of blues, jazz, and classic retro style pop. Malaya sat with me and we talked about her career and more.
CHRISTIAN COLLIN - Segment Begins At The 46:40 Mark
Christian Collin is a Chicago based singer, songwriter and guitarist devoted to American roots music. Born in Detroit to a musical family, Christian began playing guitar at age 13 and has never looked back. Previously the front man for Molasses, Christian recently released his solo debut entitled American Art. Christian and I spoke about his finding music and how it has led his life for so many years. We also listened to songs from the new album and Christian promised he would bring the upcoming new album to Music On The Couch when it is ready!
NICK MOSS - Segment Begins At The 132:04 Mark
We might never have known Nick Moss, the musician, if not for a kidney injury which sidelined his college sports career. The blues world would be a different landscape if that had happend. Sharing his Blues with the world since his 1999 debut First Offense, Moss has had more than 16 BMA Nominations bestowed upon him. He has released Time Ain't Free and this one has a soulful R&B feel, with flashes of Nick's love for rock, all wrapped in a big Blues hug. Nick and I sat and reviewed his life, his BMA Nominations and how he got to where he is today. We spoke about the new album and Michael Ledbetter's expanded role in the group.

TOMMY MALONE - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC - Segment Begins At The 2:26:36 Mark
Tommy Malone originally sat on The Couch back in July of 2013. He came back to share his new album Poor Boy which dropped the following day. We spoke about Tommy's last year, including his playing with the Subdudes and with his band.
