MARKUS JAMES - His latest album back in October. The album is entitled Head For The Hills and was recorded in the delta and hill country of Mississippi. He is backed up by some Hill Country royalty on drums. He music is the result of his love for the Hill Country of Mississippi and the sounds of West African Music and he has even toured in Mali, West Africa to continue his studies. Markus and I talked about his musical journey, the musicians he respects and admires and more.

What a journey Mike has traveled to where he is today. He was playing professionally at 16 and making his mark and then gave it all up to raise his family, mainly ass a single father. He didn't even touch a guitar for about 10 years. Thought it was gone and good riddence. Then through fate, he was almost forced to pick up the guitar again and his career is as hot as it can be. Learn about the karma that allowed it all to happen again. We also listened to songs from his album In The Dog House.

Dick is from Texas and offers a mix of Americana, Roots, Rock and Blues on his album One Bird, Two Stones. We spoke about about growing up in the Beaumont/Port Arthur, TX area, how he stopped playing for a while and what brought him back to his journey down the musical highway while we listened to songs from the album.

He has represented the Colorado Blues Society at the 2014 & 2015 IBC and is a part of the Music Maker Relief Foundation. His latest album Tiny Town was released in January of this year. I was introduced to Anne by way of her incredible contribution to the new Jeff Jensen album. Her violin took the song "Ash & Bone" to a whole new level. She has just released Come Hither a collection of 9 originals that defy definition. Anne has spent time with Otis Taylor and has received accolades across her career and 5 previous albums. BRAD ABSHER
Brad Absher is out of Houston, Texas and he and his band, Swamp Royale, have been a fixture on the Gulf Coast for over 20 years and they have appeared at the IBC twice getting to the finals in 2014. His new album is entitled Lucky Dog and Brad and I spoke about his journey from Tulsa to St. Charles to Tulsa to Houston and the musicians he met and played with along the way.
AMANDA FISH - Segment Begins At The 49:40 Mark
Amanda Fish and I met at the IBC this past January. She was in town to just meet people, play a little and let people know about her debut album, Down In The Dirt. She actually gave me a self-burned copy of the master of the album when we chatted On The Couch and once I heard it, I knew I had to bring her onto a Monday show and show some love, because the album is great. In March, Vizztone picked her up, so if you don’t know about Samantha’s big sister now, you will soon! The album drops May 19th.

Hank first sat on The Couch back in October of 2013. He is back for the release of his new album Excuses Plenty, which drops in a couple of weeks. We spoke about heading into the studio for this album two days after the release of his first album Account To Me, what he has been up to other than recording and about the time in the studio with The Hawktones and the special guests who appear on the album.

Back in July of 2014, Peter came and sat On The Couch for a Couch Kid New Music Segment and shared PRE-MASTERS for his upcoming album, St. Amant Sessions. Well, the album is finally done and Peter had his CD Release in the Dominican Republic last week and this week he returned to talk about the work done to the album after our time in July, his spending more and more time in the D.R. and what else is going on in his life and career.

Nate has been playing harp with his band The Aces and others since he was 27 years old. He joined me and we discussed his career journey and the new album It's My Music. Some of the topics we explorered were how he found the harmonica, what is in store for his music as he steps back and looks at it anew this year.
