Tommy McCoy picked up his first guitar at 8 and started his first band in the fifth grade. Since then, he has played with many including Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Thunder, and Double Trouble. His latest is entitled, Late In The Lonely Night and during my talk with Tommy, we played some cuts from it. Tommy talked about his career, the times he spent with the many great musicians he has played with and how he sees the next year unfolding.
EDDIE TURNER - Segment Begins At The 47:26 Mark
Eddie Turner picked up his first guitar at twelve. “Otherworldly”, “scorching”, “polyrhythmic” and “chilling” have all been used to describe Eddie Turner’s guitar playing. Personally, I just call it smooth and tasty. His latest album is Miracles & Demons and during our conversation, Eddie and I played some cuts from the album. This was a fun time as Eddie speaks his mind and shares some great stories of his early career.
DAVE KEYES - Segment Begins At The 1:38:50 Mark

MARK ROBINSON - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC - Segment Begins At The 2:28:30 Mark
Mark Robinsonfirst sat on The Couch back in August of 2012 and we discussed his career as a sideman and his transition into a front man with the release of his album, Quit Your Job - Play Guitar. Tonight, Mark returned with his new album, Have Axe - Will Groove, a full 2 weeks before its official release date. We discussed the flavors Mark has delivered with this album; Memphis Soul, Texas Blues, some New Orleans back-line, and good old rocking blues. I am so honored when my 'kids' come home with the goods.
SHOW # 151 - 02/18/13
JOHN NEMETH
John Németh is a rising blues star; a singer steeped in the tradition and reminiscent of B.B. King, Ray Charles and Junior Parker, and a harmonica player of riveting intensity and virtuosity. John took time to call in to talk about his life and career, while we checked out songs from his two latest releases Blues Live and Soul Live. John discussed his recent move to Memphis and his disappointment at artists who can not, or will not acknowledge the roots of their music.
BRANDON SANTINI - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC - WORLD PREMIER
Segment Begins At The 1:09:30 Mark
Brandon Santini originally Sat On The Couch back in April of 2010 and was my first Memphis Musician Guest. He came back the next April when his album Songs Of Love, Money & Misery was released. Now his new album, This Time, Another Year is about to be released on March 5th, and Brandon made sure Music On The Couch was the first place to hear it (other than one song posted to Facebook). We discussed the recording of this album, his collaboration with Jeff Jensen on the producing of the disc and his feelings regarding the growth of his music.
ANDY COATS - Segment Begins At The 1:49:08 Mark
Andy Coats and I met back in 2010 at the King Biscuit Festival. I so enjoyed his set, I booked him for the show that December and since then we have stayed in touch. When he was ready to release his new album he called and said he wanted to bring it to The Couch. The album, Owe The Devil, released on the same day Andy joined me. During our talk Andy discussed his love for the recording process and his hope for some touring across the country.

BORROWERS DEBT
The Borrower's Debt is Tommy Gardner, Jordan Hearn, Callie Ray, and Justin Joyce and the band originally met outside a locked apartment and ended up jamming in the back of a hatchback station wagon. From that beginning has come a partnership that produces some wonderful music with 4-part harmonies. I spoke with the band and they told of their introductions into music and how they each made their way to California and eventually found each other. During our time, we listened to songs from A Treehouse Narrative.
KELLY RICHEY - Segment Begins At The 46:50 Mark
Kelly Richey originally joined me on The Couch back in December 2010 and now returns with new music and a renewed sense of her music. Joining her is her current bass player, Freekbass whose skills have added some deeper funkiness to Kelly's music. During our talk, Kelly discussed her stepping away from the business for about a year and how she slowly made her way back and how Freekbass' attitude has assisted in the journey. The album is Sweet Spirit is a collection of songs found on cassette tapes that had been stored in milk crates for years.
ROBERT "TOP" THOMAS - SEGMENT BEGNS AT THE 1:35:30 MARK
Robert "Top" Thomas began playing in bands at 13 and has never stopped pursuing his dreams of being a musician. From being a founding member of the band Smokehouse in the 90's when they defines Florida Swamp Blues, to playing with Lazy Lester and others, Robert has stayed true to his musical soul. He has just released his first solo album entitled The Town Crier, and it is a collection of songs "Top" wrote years ago and some new ditties. Robert and I explored his life and had some laughs along the way...he even admitted he had been waiting for his 'Guitar Player Magazine" interview since he was a teen and we gave him that forum on this evening!
AUSTIN YOUNG - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC - WORLD PREMIER
Segment Begins At The 2:16:00 Mark
Back in May 2011, Austin Young joined me on The Couch to discuss his early career - and now he comes back with a new album, a new label and some great music. Austin and I discussed the studio sessions for the album, his writing skills and the great dates he has coming up throughout 2013 while we played music from Blue As Can Be.
