ANGEL FORREST - originally Sat On The Couch back on December 8th, but technical difficulties wiped out her portion of the show, so she came back to tell her story once again. Angel is a wonderful singer and performer from Canada who has won multiple Maple Blues Awards, including two more this past January. She and I discussed her not finding her voice until she was 20 years old and the whirlwind she has lived in the last 26 years, traveling the world. We also chatted about her last three albums, where she took contol and began her Blues journey.

The third place band and winner of the Lee Oskar Harmonica Player Award at the IBC called in from France to discuss his time at the IBC. he subject of the originality scoring raised its head again during our discussions. Nico gave some advice for those hoping to travel to Memphis in the future.
DARREN WEALE & PAUL LAMB - Segment begins At The 01:16:54 Mark
Darren is the mastermind behind The British Blues Exhibition, which is documenting the history of British Blues from its early days to today. Paul is leader of Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes, who have been one of the dominating forces in British Blues for some 30 years. We discussed how the project is progressing and the two-day event scheduled for London this June where a physical Exhibit will be on display for those in that area. Darren discussed how people can help and his future plans and told us about meeting John Mayall recently and getting John's promise to assist in promoting the Exhibit.

Holly is one of my original Couch Kids, first appearing in January 2011. Her new project is something different for Holly. She is exploring her rougher side. Embracing the sounds of the 80's on which she found music in the vein of Chrissie Hyde & The Pretenders. We discussed her current life, what she is hoping to accomplish in the future and the new project.

MUSIC ROYALTIES & WHAT THEY MEAN TO YOU
Panelists included Musician Tas Cru, VP River City Management, Carson Lamm and BMI Executive Jeff Syracuse. The conversation revolved around the reasons BMI (and ASCAP & SECAN) do what they do and how the collection of music royalties is important. How musicians can take advantage of thes eorganizations to find additional revenue streams and why venues should not fight the fight and become a member of the organizations. Along the way, some falsehoods were discussed and in some cases, put to rest.
