SHOW #641 - 01/16/2023

This was a great show…putting it all together…having Joe Whitmer in the car and popping in on occasion.

We opened with Joe and he talked about the IBC and the recent difficulties with the pandemic and his excitement for the event blasted through.

Then Kevin Burt joined me and was so engaging in his description of his journey to his first IBC in 1995 through his recent triple win in 2018. Giving advice is his forte. Joe popped in and Kyle Deibler called in to talk. Pay attention.

Then Mick Kolassa, Ricky Stevens and Barbara Blue gave their thoughts and advice from their role as judges. Talking about the does and don’ts for the Challengers and the fans alike.

We then spoke with CROS, who placed second in the band category last year, his third time at the IBC and his second on the final stage, so you know he had some great advice.

The Venue Coordinators then joined us. Richard Schaefer, David Hughes, and Tony Frederickson. They all gave great advice, again for both the Challengers and the fans. They gave an insight into their roles and the best way for the challengers to succeed. Joe joined us again to impart some additional wisdom.

Finally Michele Seidman joined me to talk about the National Women In Blues Showcase that happens at Alfred’s on Thursday. We spoke about the acts to be featured, how this event has grown from a few acts in a small venue to having to have a lottery to determine who makes the stage.

Overall…you will hear several of the same things being stated across the evening. Guess that means they are important.

HAVE A GREAT TIME IN MEMPHIS!
