I was introduced to Alvon by Steven Suen at this year’s IBC. I just fell for his music and had to invite him to take a Seat. Alvon and I talked about his journey to the Blues, his touring the world and we listened to tunes from his album, The Blues Chose Me.

VANESSA COLLIER – Segment Begins At The 48:40 Mark

Meeting My Soul is the latest from singer, songwriter, saxophonist Vanessa Collier.  The album, released on the Ruf label, has a collection of amazing musicians and Vanessa shares 8 originals and 3 covers.  It was great to chat with Vanessa, talking about her road to The Blues and the songs on the new album.

LAUREN MITCHELL – Segment Begins At The 1:31:00 Mark

Lauren Mitchell took her considerable talents to Los Angeles to work with Tony Braunagel for the new album, Desire.  The 13 songs come from a year of turmoil, with personal loss and the loss of her band.  Lauren and I went back to the beginning and followed her journey to today.

BRODY BUSTER  - Segment Begins At The 1:35:00 Mark

Brodyrepresented the Kansas City Blues Society at the 2017 IBC and walked off the stage on Saturday earning second place in the Solo/Duo Challenge while also earning the Lee Oskar Harmonica Player Award. Brody took a seat to discuss his winding journey from child prodigy to wild teen to fatherhood to full-time musician, while we listened to tunes from One Man Band.

Tall City Blues Fest enters its 7th year with another stellar lineup.  Lisa Grissom and Ronn Reeger joined me to talk about the lineup and all of the other events happening the weekend of July 14-16.  Music On The Couch is a media sponsor and will, once again, web cast from the hotel lobby on Friday & Saturday mornings.

JON ZEEMAN – COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Jon last Sat on The Couch on 7/1/13 and tonight he returned to talk about his new album, Blue Room.  Jim filled us in on what has been happening in his life and music.  We talked about the passing of Butch Trucks and what is in store for Jon in the future.

BILLY PRICE – COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Segment Begins At The 58:00 Mark

Billy became a Couch Kid back on March 28, 2016 and he returned tonight with new music.  The album is entitled, Alive And Strange.  The music is live, but certainly not strange.  Billy and I talked about his BMA win last year, the recording of this album and where he is headed in the future.

JIM GUSTIN & TRUTH JONES – COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Jim Sat on The Couch back on February 3, 2014.  This evening he was joined by his musical partner Jeri Goldenhar (aka Truth Jones) and we had a lively discussion about the new album, their last 3 years of performing and more, while we listened to tunes from Memphis.
